Engine and Transmission Repair in Whitehall, PA

When an engine or transmission fails, it’s often still worth keeping the vehicle on the road. We’ll tell you straight whether a repair or a replacement makes more sense, then do the work with quality parts.

When the worst happens

A failed engine doesn’t have to mean a new vehicle

Whether you drive for your business or for yourself, engines and transmissions sometimes fail completely. In many cases, repairing or replacing the unit is still the better choice, and there’s no reason to junk a good car.

Auto Motors of Lehigh Valley opened in Whitehall, Pennsylvania in 1992 to focus on engine and transmission replacement. More than 30 years later, that work is still at the heart of the shop.

What we do

From a single part to a full replacement

Our mechanics use state-of-the-art diagnostic tools, several sources of service information and decades of experience to find the problem and choose the right repair. Sometimes that means replacing one part. Sometimes it means replacing the whole unit.

  • Component repairs, such as head gaskets, timing chains and valve bodies
  • Full replacement of engine, transmission, transfer case and differential units
  • Complete transparency in pricing for parts and labor

We also handle general repair, and regular vehicle maintenance helps prevent future breakdowns.

Quality new and remanufactured parts

Replacement units we can stand behind

From gaskets to entire engines, we install only parts good enough that we can stand behind them. When a full replacement is the right call, the unit comes from one of three sources.

Jasper Engines & Transmissions

Durable, well-engineered remanufactured powertrain units, from a supplier we’ve used for over 30 years. Jasper offers a 36-month/100,000-mile nationwide parts and labor warranty on most products.

Units from the vehicle manufacturer

Remanufactured and new service units direct from Ford, GM and Chrysler/Jeep/Dodge. These original equipment manufacturer (OEM) units carry 36-month parts and labor warranties.

Low-mileage used units

Depending on the repair and how reliable the replacement part is, we may be able to source a low-mileage used engine or transmission, with up to a 36-month parts and labor warranty.

What you get

Getting you back on the road

An out-of-service vehicle causes delays, and we know you want yours back as soon as possible. Our first job is to make sure the major repair is actually needed. We also check whether the vehicle has other substantial problems that would matter after the repair, such as structural corrosion or other failing powertrain components.

Once you approve the work, our schedule has the flexibility to start it quickly. Depending on replacement unit availability, we can sometimes complete engine and transmission repairs within a week of your first phone call or email. If a part is backordered, we work through our network of vendors to source quality parts as quickly as supply-chain disruptions allow.

For businesses

Engine and transmission repair for fleets

We make commercial fleets a priority for engine and transmission repairs. A failed engine or transmission affects your bottom line every day the vehicle is out of service.

We work with several public and private fleets. We fully service cars and light trucks, with more limited service for medium-duty trucks, and we accept most major credit cards and fleet cards.
